Pre-Shipment Inspection: Why It's Critical for China Sourcing Success

Pre-Shipment Inspection Explained

Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is the final quality check before goods leave the factory. It's your last chance to catch defects before shipment, and it's the single most cost-effective quality control measure.

What PSI Checks

A professional PSI checks: product appearance and finish, dimensions and measurements, functionality testing, packaging quality, labeling accuracy, and quantity verification. Inspectors use AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) sampling standards — typically AQL 2.5 for critical defects, 4.0 for major defects.

When to Inspect

Schedule PSI when 80-100% of production is complete. Timing is critical — you need enough time for the factory to fix any issues before the scheduled shipping date.
