You rent an entire container (20ft or 40ft). Cost: $1,500-3,000 depending on route. Benefits: faster transit, less handling damage risk, no consolidation delays, lower per-unit cost for large shipments. Best for orders filling 60%+ of a container.
LCL: Less than Container Load
Your goods share container space with other shipments. Cost: $100-300 per CBM. Benefits: pay only for space used, flexible for small orders, no container minimum. Best for orders under 10 CBM.
